Major Survey Reveals:
Americans Support Marriage In A Big Way

Despite wide-ranging and often heated debate about
the meaning of marriage today, a majority
of Americans still retain their fundamental
commitment to a biblical view of the institution.

In May, 2011, ADF sponsored the most extensive survey yet on this issue, asking people to express agreement or disagreement with these exact words:

"I BELIEVE MARRIAGE SHOULD BE DEFINED only AS A UNION BETWEEN ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN."

Of those surveyed,
62%
AGREED.

The survey was part of a broad and comprehensive ADF effort examining American attitudes toward marriage.

Those who responded in support of marriage emphasized it as a "natural," "special," "unique," and "ideal" relationship, crucial to the health of society and the emotional security and well-being of children.
