Intolerance of Christian Groups

Hundreds of universities go to great lengths to silence Christian students and prevent the spread of the Gospel. At Savannah State University, the Christian student group Commissioned 2 Love was expelled from campus by university administrators. The university charged the group’s leaders with “harassment” and “hazing” for washing the feet of its members during a symbolic (and voluntary) foot-washing ceremony, which followed Jesus’ example of humility and service.

Astonished by the university’s actions, Commissioned 2 Love President Larinda King contacted ADF to defend her group’s First Amendment-protected right to assemble and express its religious beliefs on Savannah State’s campus. By God’s grace, the university eventually agreed to a settlement that restored Commissioned 2 Love’s status as a student group, which helped to affirm the right for Christian organizations at universities across America to meet and act in accordance with their faith.

A Hostile Environment

By God’s grace, ADF has fought and won nearly 100 percent of all university legal matters – but the battle is far from over. ADF has identified more than 270 public universities in America where Christian students may be hindered from freely living out their faith without fear of censorship, discrimination, indoctrination, or dismissal because of unconstitutional policies and university administrators who are intolerant of your sincerely held religious beliefs.

In fact, one hostile dean at Georgia Tech was forthcoming about the university’s agenda to indoctrinate Christians with its leftist ideology. This is what he told Ruth Malhotra – a student who was mocked, cursed, and threatened with rape and murder for standing up for her faith and conservative views on campus:

This is what he told Ruth . . .
