Awana's Religion Expelled - August 12, 2008 "Approved workmen are not ashamed." Those are the words found in 2 Timothy 2:15 and the foundation for the Christian ministry, Awana - which derives its name from the first letters in the words of that wonderful verse. For nearly 60 years, Awana has been a leader in children's ministry, helping churches and parents worldwide raise children with a Christian worldview and a solid foundation in the Christian faith. In fact, there are 12,000 churches in all 50 states running Awana programs right now. But one church in Arizona is having trouble inviting students to its Awana program.
