In 2009, the Alliance Defense Fund will celebrate 15 years of ministry. (
Click here to see a timeline of our accomplishments.) We praise God for the opportunity to serve the legal needs of the Body of Christ for this long and seek His providence as we look to continue for as long as He has planned.
In the past decade and a half, we've made huge strides in combating groups like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU), and Planned Parenthood. We've set important legal precedents and are prepared to face new challenges from Washington, D.C., and the growing number of advocates promoting homosexual behavior. We anticipate a legal attack on religious freedom that's greater than anything we've ever seen before. We must take the high ground to ensure the future for religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and the family.
It is crucial that we aggressively confront these
challenges in 2009 — with your continued support.
Renew your commitment to ADF in this new year, and you will join the legal alliance best equipped for defending religious liberty:
- Victory in more than 3 of every 4 cases funded or litigated to completion over the past 15 years.
- Our critical role in 33 victories at the U.S. Supreme Court, setting important legal precedents for future challenges to religious freedom.
- Wins in 83% of our cases in 2007-2008.
Additionally, you can rest assured that if you join our ministry, your financial gift will go directly to increase the bullet points listed above. Simply put, it will go to winning! Your gift funds
tomorrow, not yesterday. Wise financial planning has allowed our ministry to thrive for 15 years. We have a four-star rating with Charity Navigator for our commitment to financial stewardship. (

Your prayers and contributions are crucial
if we are to keep the door open
for the spread of the Gospel.
2009 is going to be a year of tremendous challenges. For instance:
- ENDA
Imagine that a counseling position is open at Focus on the Family. Among the applicants is an individual who practices homosexual behavior. If the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) becomes law, Focus could be legally punished for refusing to hire this person to minister. This bill directly threatens the right of conscience of employers in their hiring practices. Ministries will be prime targets for abusive enforcement of this law.

- Hate Speech
Your pastor has just preached a sermon about homosexual behavior, using Biblical Truth as the basis for his message. Because the Truth is from God, who is Love, His Word cannot be “hateful.” Nevertheless, someone complains, and the police arrest your pastor, who will stand trial for the charge of engaging in “hate speech.” This has already occurred in Sweden. If Congress expands “hate” crimes laws far enough, biblical text could be criminalized.

- Freedom of Choice Act
Consider all the legislative gains by pro-life advocates in recent years: parental consent laws, informed consent laws, restrictions on taxpayer funding of abortions, and a federal ban on the barbarous act of partial-birth abortion. Think of all the years of hard work it took to pass these laws . . . against all the entrenched opposition of the abortion industry. Now, one new federal law—the Freedom of Choice Act—could throw out all these and more and put the unborn at an even greater risk.

All of these threats are real. Each of them may become law unless the president vetoes them. And our new administration advocates many of these things. Christians, churches, and employers need a trusted legal ally.
With your prayers and financial gifts, ADF will be able to continue to aggressively defend the Body of Christ from the legal challenges that threaten religious freedom in America. Click on the button below to join us by making your tax-deductable gift through our safe and secure website.
