Stories of Influence

Without the grace of God, and the prayerful involvement of our ministry friends, we truly would accomplish nothing.

It is vital that people across the country stand with us. For this reason, we want to share the comments of some individuals who have chosen to join us in the fight for religious liberty.

"Our involvement goes back to about 1994 when we heard Alan Sears on a Focus on the Family broadcast. We were stationed at Fort Carson and were living in Colorado Springs at the time. We were immediately convinced of the need for an organization like ADF to help Christians get off the sidelines and into the game.

"We then had the opportunity to meet Alan on his subsequent trips to Colorado. Since that time we have had the chance to do some volunteer work for ADF in various states as we have travel in the military. This was culminated this last year when we attended Ambassador training and the ADF Fall Briefing.

"The main thing that impresses us about ADF is just how Christ-centered ADF and its leadership are. There is nothing self-centered about ADF. The focus of the ministry truly is on Jesus Christ and keeping the doors open for the spread of the Gospel. It is exciting to see how God is using ADF to make a difference - not only the lives of individuals and families - but also in our nation.

"God has blessed us with the privilege of being part of the ADF Ambassador team. We are thankful for that and anxious to see how God will continue to use ADF in the future." - Rich and Sandy, Fort Monmouth, NJ

"Beginning in the early 80’s, Noreen and I have had a heartfelt calling to be used significantly by God.  While we had been enhancing our lifestyle and pursuing business ventures, the culture was going in the tank.  The question was, 'how could we use the gifts God had provided us to turn that trend around?'

"At first we became involved in youth ministries—YFC, Student Venture, Young Life—believing that the youth of today would determine the culture of tomorrow.  While that is certainly true, we did not sense that we were called to work with youth.

"Next, I formed a monthly men’s fellowship breakfast meeting. That wrought real changes in the spiritual lives of men but not the direct cultural impact we were also seeking.

"In 2000, God seemed to line up a number of circumstances that prompted us to a move to Scottsdale.  A friend had told us about ADF and here it was right in our backyard.  I immediately phoned Alan Sears and met with him several times to learn more about ADF’s vision and strategy.  My findings delighted us.

"The key to ADF and the culture is this: the law is the common denominator of every single aspect of culture.  He who effectively influences the law, controls the culture.

"The ACLU and its allies use the law to gain cultural ground because legislation would be too difficult and time consuming, with a likely negative outcome (from their standpoint) as they realize their positions are in the minority in America.  Therefore, they rely on activist judges to advance their agenda.

"ADF is the counter force to the ACLU.  So, by positively impacting the law, as ADF has as it mission, religious freedom, sanctity of human life, and traditional family values may be restored to the center of our culture.

"That is why Noreen and I are strongly committed Ambassadors of ADF.  We believe the best use of our resources and respective spheres of influence for the benefit of our children’s and grandchildren’s future is to give our full support to the successful accomplishment of ADF’s mission." - Ken and Noreen, Scottsdale, AZ

"My name is Steven and my wife's name is Heather. My wife first heard of ADF from me, as I have been an ADF supporter for 8 years. I first heard of ADF through Focus on the Family. ADF has ALWAYS been my #1 choice of ministries to support. Why? Good question with two answers.

"First, ADF is an excellent steward of the money they receive. That is important in moving forward.

"Second, without ADF, there won't be much else to support. I tell this to EVERYONE I speak to about ADF. When Christians find out that there is something they can do (i.e., support financially and prayerfully in this crazy anti-Christian world), they are usually elated. I do quite a bit of public speaking on Homosexuality and the Bible, Christian Ethics, Legislating Morality, etc., and I ALWAYS refer back to the Bible as the source, and ADF as an important vehicle that God is using to reclaim our legal system and society for Him.

"When Alan Sears says, "We can do it with His strength"...I have ZERO doubt that what he say it true. It took us 40 years to get into this hole, and I thank God for the ADF founders who had the vision to begin to get us out...and hopefully create a greater place for our children. ADF is not just an awesome organization filled with awesome people, it's highly effective. When I explain to folks that we win most of the cases we take on, they get fired up, and thus another ADF proponent is born in many cases.

"God Bless America...and may He forgive us, and lead us back to Him. Furthermore, may we fall on our knees in repentance, and seek Him with all our hearts, minds, strength and soul. In the interim, may we fight the fight, keep the doors of American open to the Gospel.

"Thank God for ADF!!"  - Steven and Heather, Charlotte, NC

"I have known about ADF from its inception. The idea the founders had was a good one. Pro-family groups were working to get good legislation passed. But the courts were obstructing the will of the people. And, meanwhile Christians across the nation were having their ability to express their faith challenged. These men were wise to see the need and found ADF.

"But you never know if a new organization is really going to take hold and grow and make a lasting impact. The Alliance Defense Fund has done these things beyond the wildest dreams of those of us who have watched the organization blossom. ADF uses the resources that that come into the organization to weave a tapestry of attorneys and lay people, education and action that makes possible protection of religious freedom and, now, the institution of marriage.

"I cannot think of an organization that is doing more in America to uphold Christian values that the Alliance Defense Fund." - Penna, Texas
