Thirty-five years ago, the Supreme Court issued one of the most devastating decisions in U.S. history, creating a "right" to abortion.
Roe v. Wade did not occur overnight. Supporters of abortion carefully executed their plans and built legal decision upon decision – and the effects have most certainly been far-reaching and long-lasting.
Millions of unborn children have been senselessly killed, without reason and without mercy. To put this in perspective, each year on September 11, we relive the shock and sadness, anger and despair that filled us when nearly 3,000 innocent people lost their lives in a cowardly act of terrorism. Imagine the horror if such an attack was carried out
every single day since January 22, 1973. And then realize that the average number of babies killed every day since the passage of
Roe v. Wade actually exceeds 3,000. It's staggering. But many in this country continue to turn a blind eye to
this cowardly act of terrorism, and many organizations who promote abortion continue to amass a fortune from the murder of unborn children.
Planned Parenthood has made a living – quite literally – by performing abortions. In 2004 alone, the organization reportedly earned a record $104 million from 244,628 abortions. With the support of your tax dollars, the organization hawks poorly performing condoms, provided an undercover reporter posing as a 15-year-old with suggestions on how cover-up a case of statutory rape, and fought regulations that would enforce basic safety standards for its clinics, all while bragging of "protecting women's health" by keeping abortion "safe, legal, and rare." Planned Parenthood's practices may increase its profits, but they also devalue life and promote the view that it is disposable.
These are not the principles America was founded upon.
ADF is committed to restore a legal system that values life.
Roe v. Wade was built with sustained effort over time, and during the past several years we have made a similar, disciplined effort to overturn the impact of
Roe and expose the true character and agenda of those organizations that aggressively defend – and profit from – abortion.
By God's grace, and with your generous support, we are making major strides forward. Before judges' benches and in the courtrooms of public opinion, things are changing.
Here are just a few of the ways ADF is working to protect life:
 |
The constitutional rights of pro-life students, winning victories that allow them to share their message on campus. more |
 |
Pharmacists and other health-care workers, challenging attempts to force individuals to violate their rights on conscience. more |
 |
Unborn children, participating in a key Supreme Court victory that imposed the first significant limit on abortion since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973. more |
The tide is indeed turning, and your support has enabled us to win many victories for life, but the fight must continue. Just as it took a sustained effort to make the first dent in
Roe v. Wade, it will take continued determination to finish the job. And through our Blackstone Legal Fellowship and National Litigation Academy, we're building an army of attorneys who will carry this critical fight far into the future.
Your gift today is a critical investment in the fight to save lives and restore the conscience of America.
Please give generously and prayerfully, believing that we can and will win the legal fight to save future generations from the ravages of
Roe v. Wade and its legacy.
