LOS ANGELES — Alliance Defense Fund attorneys will be available for media interviews following a hearing Monday in an important homeschooling case. In March, the California Court of Appeal agreed to reconsider its decision in the case In re: Rachel L., which stated that parents who lack a teaching certificate cannot lawfully teach their children at home.
“Parents have a fundamental right to make educational choices for their children,” said ADF Senior Counsel Gary McCaleb. “We are very pleased that the court is reviewing this case, and we look forward to presenting our arguments.”
Attorneys with ADF filed the motion for rehearing shortly after the court initially ruled on Feb. 28. The court granted the motion on March 25 (www.telladf.org/news/story.aspx?cid=4440).
A fact sheet is available on the lawsuit at www.telladf.org/UserDocs/RachelFactSheet.pdf.
