Please
Pray for ADF Co-Founder Dr. D. James Kennedy...
Last Thursday, December 28th, ADF co-founder Dr. D. James Kennedy
(right) suffered a heart attack at his home in Florida. As of
yesterday, the news was VERY encouraging. Dr. Kennedy was off life
support, was sitting up, and speaking with members of his family.
Please join with me and the ADF team in pleading for God's grace,
mercy, and healing for this warrior statesman. His faithfulness
and unwillingness to compromise on what counts has been a great
undergirding for me. His witness and the humility of this servant
of the Lord have affected my life in many ways. It is in great
part because of his voice, his vision, and his perseverance that ADF
exists and is making such an impact today. We will update you on
his progress. Thank you!
2006...A Year of God's Abundant
Blessings...
Sunday night, the bell tolled for 2006...bringing to close another year
of tremendous blessings as we continue, with God's grace, to defend the
right to hear and speak the Truth. A few reflections on the year
gone by:
- ADF and
its allies go nine-for-nine for marriage in less than three months.
This summer we saw the fruit of ADF's legal efforts to preserve
marriage as the union between one man and one woman. ADF and
its allies emerged victorious in the legal battle to affirm marriage in
Arizona, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New
York, Tennessee, and Washington. In addition, eight more states
passed constitutional amendments protecting marriage: Alabama, Colorado,
Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Learn more...
- ADF – in various
roles – assists with five more victories at the United States Supreme
Court. This past spring brought five more ADF-assisted
victories at the United States Supreme Court - bringing our total number of victories to
31! For a more complete listing of victories, go to www.telladf.org/actions/victories/default.aspx?cid=3197
- Nearly 1,000
NLA-trained allied attorneys now available to serve the Body of Christ!
In October, ADF finished its last NLA-training program for 2006,
bringing the total of NLA-trained allied attorneys to 976. These trained attorneys
have already reported over $60 million
in dedicated legal service to the Body of Christ!
- Over 500
graduates of the Blackstone Legal Fellowship Program. This
past summer, ADF conducted its seventh Blackstone Legal Fellowship
leadership training program. With this class, ADF has graduated 503 of the best and brightest law
students in the land – many who are already making a significant impact
on our nation's legal system.
- ADF's Center for
Academic Freedom Goes on the Offensive to Protect Religious Freedom at
our nation's taxpayer-funded universities. In March, ADF
launched the ADF Center for Academic Freedom to go on the offense
against discriminatory policies with regard to religious freedom at our
nation's public universities. In less than a year, the Center has
achieved significant legal victories at Penn State University, Georgia
Tech University, University of Georgia, Southern Illinois University,
University of Wisconsin-Superior, Missouri State University, and Ohio
State University-Mansfield for the right to hear and speak the Truth at
the so-called "free marketplace of ideas."
Other significant highlights of
the year included:
- ADF lawyer Nate Kellum extending his amazing track
record of success (now eight victories!) before the U.S. Court of
Appeals, the second highest court in the land.
- ADF's lawsuit on behalf of VoteOnMarriage regarding
the unconstitutional actions of the Commonwealth's Legislature, which had refused to vote to allow a proposed constitutional amendment protecting
marriage on the Fall 2008 ballot. We just learned that the Massachusetts Legislature finally voted to allow the amendment process to move forward! (You can
read Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby's excellent opinion piece on
this issue here.)
- And most of all,
the ongoing prayers and support from our ministry friends – YOU – who,
along with God's grace, have made all of this possible. THANK YOU!
