ADF's Litigator Goes Head to
Head with ACLU President Nadine Strossen at Susquehanna University...
For more than 20 years, I've been standing on the front line of the
fight against

hard-core pornography and the sexual exploitation of children, what I
call "crime scene photography."
Why do I call child pornography "crime-scene photography?"
Because it cannot be produced without commitment of a crime and injury
against an innocent child.
During that time, my chief opponent has been the American Civil
Liberties Union and its pro-pornography allies.
Despite the countless homes that have been broken, families that have
been crushed, children that have been physically and/or psychologically
scarred for life, the ACLU remains unbroken in its position that all
pornography - including the most heinous such as child pornography - is
defended by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Can you imagine Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and James Madison
debating that point during the sweltering Philadelphia summer of
1787? I don't think so. The ACLU's position would boggle
their minds.
On Wednesday night, March 21st, ADF Senior Legal Counsel Mike Johnson
debated ACLU President Nadine Strossen at Susquehanna University in
Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, on the ACLU's incredible position. The
evening turned out to be quite illuminating. According to Mike,
Strossen used several expletives during the debate, disparaged the
Bible, and asserted that children could benefit from pornography if used
in an "appropriate context!"
You can watch a short news story on the debate at www.dailyitem.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070322/MEDIA04/70322004
We praise God for this opportunity for Mike to be "salt and
light" not only to the media and college student audience at the debate,
but to Nadine Strossen as well. Please pray for Mike and all our
lawyers who are working incredibly hard to stand up to the ACLU and its
allies throughout the United States.
New Video Shows Defeating
Hard-Core Pornographers is Possible...
As ADF co-founder Dr. James Dobson has said, the war on the criminal
enterprise of pornography is "a winnable war." If you like to see
how concerned citizens in one town (Tucson, Arizona) stood up to and
defeated (with ADF assistance) an attempt by a pornographic outlet to
locate within 500 feet of a children's dance studio, please check out a
new ADF video presentation, "Defending Innocence: The Pima County Case,"
at www.communitydefense.org/faq/aboutcdc.html.
I believe you will be encouraged as you see that when concerned
citizens, armed with the right legal information and resources, take a
stand against the spread of hardcore pornography, they can and WILL WIN!
Congratulations
Focus on the Family on 30 Wonderful Years!
On March 26, 1977, ADF co-founder Dr. James Dobson sat down in a
cramped studio to record the first broadcast of "Focus on the
Family."
Dr. Dobson knew that the American family was in crisis, and that
something had to be done about it.
This week, that one-time one room ministry celebrates its 30th
anniversary. Its influence is worldwide. The daily Focus on
the Family broadcast is heard around the world. Millions of
families have been touched, and in many cases, literally saved through
the ministry. I know what the ministry has meant to me personally
and I cannot imagine not having it there in my times of need. And
I shudder to think of where our culture would be today if Dr. Dobson had
not responded to God's call back in 1977 - to leave a comfortable
position at the University of Southern California Children's Hospital -
to launch Focus.
All of us here at ADF want to
extend our congratulations to Dr. James Dobson, Focus on the Family
President Jim Daly, Focus VP and ADF Board Chairman Emeritus Tom
Minnery, and the entire Focus team on 30 incredible years of
ministry. It is our hope and prayer that Focus' influence on our
society will only continue to increase as it ministers to families
around the world with the hope and love of Jesus Christ.
